Using coconut oil as a hair treatment? Method?

I've totally neglected my hair lately. I'm going to get a trim this week. I've also bought Philip Kingsley Elasticizer to try as a pre-shampoo. We have coconut oil here, how do I use this as a treatment? Do I apply to dry hair or wet? How much should I use? Is it easy to shampoo out? How often should I use it?

Thank you!

Hair today gone tomorrow. If you can't get to the root of the problem then it's time to split ends :-)

I hope you managed to sleep on the problem.
