has anybody done the freedom programme?

I'm due to start the freedom programme tomorrow morning and am very nervous
I was referred by my social worker as my children were put under child protection due to my partner having a breakdown and beong sectioned and also the dv that led up to this
Anyway, if u have been on it how was it? I'm not really sure what to expect, ive been reading the book they gave me but cant really put him under any category they mentioned sort of bits from each

I started but wasn't able to finish it as Ex found out and was waiting for me outside a number of weeks in.

Having said that, it's a brilliant program. It's enlightening, it's validating, it's emotional, it's draining, it's rewarding.
It really opened my eyes to the reality of what I've lived through.

Hes very depressed, so he goes weeks and weeks where all is good the only real complain is hes a lazy bum who doesnt want to help around the house/with the kids etc, then he has weeks hes great with the kids.
But then he has days hes really depressed and says hurtful things doesnt do anything to help and just wallowed in self pity

But I know I still use excuses for hes behaiviour I worry about him constantly when hes like this, but at the same time I feel so angry, why do I have to put up with this I just want a happy relationship with him

Still so nervous about this programme, and not sure it's for me, will have to see tommorow!

No- no places. I carried their Good Man/ Bad man card around in my wallet until it fell to pieces though and read the booklet. Few years ago now, but it looked like a great course.

Do you think you are scared of not being able to make excuses for him any more?

yes, well worth it. Think there's an online version now too. Good luck.

Completely worth it! You will be in a group and all of you will be nervous. The facilitator should be well trained and understand that you will all be very nervous. You don't have to do or say anything just sit, listen and get to know your group.

Hopefully first session will be a coffee and biscuit session. You will not be asked anything direct and remember you can always say your not ready to talk but would like to stay.

I did the online free one - it was brilliant. I have heard really good things about the actual course too. Hope it went well OP.
