So hubby came home tonight with an M&S special for tomorrow night. He had booked a posh meal out which I made him cancel as money's tight.

Bless him he is so good. What is everyone else up to?!

Probably sitting in with the kids alone, not sure! I don't normally see bf on Fridays and am not expecting him. Have already given him a present not really fussed if I get anything back although it would be nice! Agree with my assessment off your sentiments that it is about the thought and not the money

Sadly, I'm at the point where I feel a compulsive need to be contrarian and not even acknowledge the day. We usually get cards (but I haven't bothered this year) but I find it best to be a little bit more spontaneous.

In my commuting days I used to feel sorry for those girls that were carrying home roses on Valentine's Day. It just said to me that their partners lacked imagination, or somehow were only sending them flowers because Hallmark said they had to....... I know it's not true; but for me, romance is about doing something nice for your partenr because you want to, not because you're being prodded.

Silly I know, and I hope everybody has as happy a Valentine's Day as they want.

Our friends are getting married today so we're off to that Grin

Otherwise, we don't do valentines day. We tend to enjoy a family meal in will our DD and count our blessings that we are so lucky.

My dh is on call this weekend - so I won't see him again until Tuesday evening.

We exchanged cards/presents last night. The usual home made cards, I got an Owl cushion (I love owls) and I got dh a mini red rose pot for his work!

The bloke I'm currently dating 'doesn't do' Valentines Day and tbh it does very little for me either. So the very small offering of some quite lovely chocolates I was presented with - complete with some blushing and shuffling of feet - was disproportionately moving. :)

I was given a cup of tea in bed this morning. Doesn't sound like much but i normally get up at 5.30am to make DH's lunch and put horses out, so for him to get up at 5 am to make me tea makes me feel pretty special. Smile

He is on call until tomorrow morning so we will be having big steaks tomorrow night.

strangely, i ended a relationship with my BF in november, although have remained friends since, lots in common and he's had surgery so i've occasionally helped out, kept him company (no!), we have known eachother for years although were "together" for about the last 2 years (never lived together)....turns out he seems to think i am still his girlfriend; is this the first time ever i have awoken on valentines day, happily single (so much so that i hadn't even thought about it) only to find i have been in a relationship ALL THIS TIME and not realised?? Who knew? tee hee........think i might have to have a very tactful word......!

Don't do valentines. Ever since waitressing days. Saddest night of the year in a restaurant. Interesting types of couples who go out for valentines. Always big night and full but just such a weird atmosphere. Think you see the fakery of it all.

BearsBeetsBattlestarGalactica · 14/02/2014 12:28

I don't do valentines and neither does the bloke I am seeing.

The 'gift' of booze tonight was a lovely surprise though.

He knows me Wink
