pain after sex

Sorry wasnt sure where to post if there is a more suitable section feel free to move it for me.

Dont want to go into too much detail but Friday night we were going at it and remember during i had an unusual pain inside, and made me ow out loud he said are you alright and i said yer its ok so we carried on. Since then ive had a really horrible pain right at the top of my left leg mainly bikini line area goes right round my thie into my bum cheek, also left side of my vagina hurts but not as much so. It had settled down and then last night we had sex again and its flared up again was hurting inside after and today ive had to take pain killers for it i could feel myself walking stupid cos hurts to put weight on that side.

Any ideas? Like i say never had it before occasionally achey after but nothing like this, do you think ive pulled something? Or something that needs more investigation? Recently been suffering with iregular bleeding but doctors have found nothing and its stopped now so i dont know

Definitely go back to your GP. Could your irregular bleeding have been caused by endometriosis? It's a much more common condition than most think and it is sadly not diagnosed early enough in most cases and the symptoms include irregular periods, pain during and after intercourse, occasional unexplained abdominal aches and twinges as well as heavy periods.

t3rr3gl35 - doesnt endometriosis mean you have trouble conieving though? ive been pregnant 4 times (2nd twins and 4th i had a m/c)

When i was younger the doctor suggested i might have it or pcos due to pains and iregular periods but nothing has ever been found

Deep pain during sex can be very indicative of endometriosis being present. I note you've also had irregular bleeding too (yet another possible indicator).

Endo can cause problems in conceiving but not always.

Interesting too what they said to you when you were younger re possible PCOS and or endometriosis.

Endometriosis is usually only diagnosed through laparoscopy which is a keyhole surgery type operation done under general anaesthetic.

I would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae and do not take no for an answer!. Such problems are well outside a GPs remit so you need a specialist to further investigate.

I would also suggest you now start keeping a daily pain and symptom diary till your referral as this can and does give the gynae clues.

FWIW - I had the classic signs of endo from when I was 12yo (started periods at 10). Was dismissed by GP's and felt like an eternal moaner. Didn't have trouble conceiving but couldn't carry most pregnancies, stopped having periods at 26, was investigated for premature menopause at 27, had laparoscopy at 30 to investigate size and attachments of ovarian tumour prior to surgery and was found to have widespread endometriosis. Big surprise to medics, less of a surprise to me.

It does sound like endo. Though there isn't a massive amount can be done to treat it.

Would endo cause pain in the upper thigh/pelvic area though?

I used to get pain and it turned out to be fibroids

Yes. Def in the pelvic area and can radiate down towards thigh. I also had permanent lower back ache that never eased until the endo was lasered.

Hi again, thanks very much for your replies. Ive been in agony most of the night so in process of running a bath, the pain is feeling more like period pain now.

Im deffinately ringing doctors tomorrow anyway and i will mention what you all have spoke about.

I had an ultra sound first week in january and apparently that brought nothing up and the bleeding has now calmed down, suffered a m/c in Aug so the iregular bleeding had been since then doctors said its hormonal and want me to consider coil.

As mentioned it has been suggested i could of had endometriosis and pcos in the past when i was younger but ive never had a biopsy. I started my periods aged 10 and have always had painful and heavy periods and gone through phases of iregular cycles. Ive had untra sound and internal aged 16 said everything was normal. Then a few months before i concived my eldest i had to have another due to pain i was getting and then in 2011 i had to have another again found nothing was referred to guynacologist who prescribed me norethisterone and some tablets to stop the heavy bleeding then was discharged after a few months

Could my gp refer me for a biopsy then? or would i need go back to a guynacologist?

Sounds like endo. Pain in thigh etc fairly typical. It doesn't show up on ultra sounds... You would need a diagnostic laperoscopy.

You need to fight tooth and nail for a laparoscopy. As PP have said, ultrasound won't show it. Your symptoms sound very like mine. A Mirena coil made a huge difference to me, but I wasn't TTC.

You need to see your GP ASAP. It could be anything including ovarian cysts or ectopic pregnancy. The pain described sounds similar to my ectopic pregnancy and after being examined by 3 doctors and a pg test all thought I wasn't pregnant and was probably caused by a cyst. Only a blood test and laparoscopy discovered it.

Thanks again, i couldnt get an appointment today only as an emergency and as i had to collect kids from nursery i wouldnt of been able to attend the sit and wait and they wont let me pre book anything how bloody annoying :( I can ring them at 12 see if they have any but again it the kids and not sort of thing i want to talk about in front of them OH isnt home until 5ish so unless they can get me in after 5 but would prefer the female doctor ive seen about it before, i will deff keep trying anyway.

Pain has eased a lot anyway was bad first thing but took co-codamol and it eased alot even managed to walk alot easier today

Im thinking of doing a pregnancy test just to check as been feeling really sick this morning but pretty sure im not but will keep you posted
