Normal day today youngest dc3 is poorly at the moment I told dc3 to turn the computer down he refused was rude we are having trouble with this at the moment. P told him if he didn't turn it down it would be turned off dc3 was rude again so P turned it off dc threw a loo roll at him P snapped and hit dc on the back. I grabbed dc3 and told P to get out.
I couldn't see any further then getting him out tbh i just needed him to leave. Another dc2 who was in the room started freaking out and saying he wanted his dad and shrieking was dreadful P left without argument. Have heard nothing from P since The only way I could calm dc2 down was by saying he would probably see his dad tomorrow I have no idea if this is going to happen by the way.
I have tried to explain to all dc's that it was wrong for P to hurt dc3 and we couldn't have that happening so he wasn't allowed to stay.
I have been vague about whats going to happen as tbh I just don't know. My main worries at the moment are practical.
I don't particularly want to talk to P but should I let dc2 that is missing him (dc1 &3 haven't been bothered) phone him to try and help him get to sleep as i can see him getting upset again before bedtime I don't really want him to talk to dc3 but if dc2 phones him then what if dc1 and 3 want to speak also.
Was I in the wrong to get him out of the house did I over react I just had to get him out then if that makes sense

If your P hit a child hard enough to cause real pain, then you are way beyond any debate about the rights and wrongs of smacking, and yes someone who hurts a child needs to be removed.

Do whatever seems expedient today. When will you be able to meet P (without DC) to work out where you go from here?

What does "hit" mean? was it a tap? A thump? a slap? how hard was it ? was dc3 hurt? How old is he? Is this the first time he has hit him?
