I am married, and although i love my husband I love someone else too, we have loved each other since school but have slipped in and out of contact, he is also married.

Today he said he loved me but said 'he might never be able to give me what I need and deserve'. (I have never and would never ask him to leave his wife)

I am torn between thinking he is being a pompous arse or just sad that he said it. He has txted asking if everything is ok and he is sorry I am p***d off

any advice welcome good or bad

Sounds like he is letting you down gently, I'm afraid...

You shouldn't even be thinking about the mechanics of a relationship with someone else. Concentrate on your husband and this kind of complication won't trouble you in life.

Agree with the other two.

You need to get on with the life you chose. You're not being fair to your respective partners.

Oh, and he does sound like a pompous arse....sooooo unoriginal.

Slip out of contact again, quickly.

And he does sound a bit of a pompous arse TBH.

For you to say you are quite sad that he said it, is quite telling.

Why are you?
