Cheating - which do you think is worse?

I know this is a weird topic and don't mean to be flippant but hypothetically which do you think is worse - a one night stand with a stranger or sleeping in the same bed, kissing, touching etc (but not having sex) with someone you know and see frequently?

I think it's in your title - both are cheating and therefore for me would mean the end of the relationship.

Those who want to insist they're not "technically" cheating tummy Hmm

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 29/11/2013 13:01

hmm face at "technically not cheating!!!1" BTW - not you. Very teenage interpretation IMO.

MillyRules · 29/11/2013 13:18

I don't believe the second scenario would exist. Who as fully grown adults shares a bed, touches and kisses but doesn't have sex ....seriously ?? Wink

Fairenuff · 29/11/2013 14:48

Fairenuff - do you mean the person being cheated on wouldn't be important enough to the cheater?

Yes. In either scenario the cheater does not care about the person being cheated on, or value their relationship.

They are both totally scummy things to do and I don't think one can be used to trump the other as in I did X but YOU did Y and that's FAR WORSE!

To cop off with a stranger, to betray someone you claim to love for a cheap shag with someone who means nothing to you is to treat your partner with a contempt that makes a mockery of any love you claim to have for them.

To make a total fool of them by repeatedly fooling around with someone else, lying to their face, and then trying to claim that it's not 'as bad' because nobody's penis was inserted into nobody's vagina is also treating them with total contempt.

So they're both as bad as each other, but for slightly different reasons.

Objectiveman · 29/11/2013 20:05

Both really wrong.
Trying to make one less bad than the other is just kidding yourself.
Anyone that tries to justify either as acceptable has low moral standards in my opinion.
Ask it the other way around, is he said - "but dear I only slept with her the once, It was really quick" - how would you feel !
