How to tell people we've split up?

Me and my ex broke up a few months ago - I've kept it to myself apart from a few friends and family. How do I tell others? Like family friends, work.

"Mr Wish and I have separated".

I told people really quickly because telling people terrified me.

If they wonder why you haven't already told them already "I haven't felt comfortable talking about it".

Of course you don't need to tell them, but it would be odd not to.

Ideal time of year to send a Christmas card from just you with a note?

Could you email people a brief note? At work, perhaps just tell one person and ask them to let others know? Or if you have a small office, you may need to change your emergency contact details with e.g. the office manager, so you could let her know what has happened and say that you don't really want to discuss it but are happy for people to know.

Haven't people noticed?

I'm surprised it's not just come out in normal everyday conversation.

Hope you're ok x

If you've already told a few people, I expect the grape-vine will do the rest. You should tell work in case you need any compassionate leave. You don't have to give them any details.

Thanks everybody. I don't work in a office environment so I can't send out an email, I might just tell a few people and ask them to let others know.

I do need to change my address so will explain to my manager! Thanks everybody.

I've often wondered what it would be like if it was possible to have a split announced in the local papers, like front page news (I guess I'd have to be a bit famous or something).

I've made sure that I told those people most important to me myself, ideally face to face. as far as I'm concerned any grapevines can do rest or noticing his car isn't at house. or that no wedding rings etc. I told only immediate work colleagues as i d just started a new job.

good luck
