Why and how do they make you feel your worst!?

'Why'... how long is a piece of string? Although often IME bad feelings in families can be caused as much by thoughtlessness or poor communication as they are out of actual malice. 'How' is because they know us best, because they matter to us, there's a shared history and a sense of obligation. If some random stranger behaved offensively we'd fight back, walk off, call the police, ... whatever was appropriate. When it's family there's a different dynamic and special treatment comes into play.

The glib answer is - because you let them :)

The other answer is that they know you! They know what annoys you & they can trample all over you in ways that other people wouldn't. If they don't support you or protect you then it feels shitty.

Are you OK? Is this just a musing question or has something happened?

Thanks for replying. Just something upset me but you're right, it's more thoughtlessness than anything else. They have a history of it so it shouldn't surprise me!
