If so, can you tell me - do they all continue to be warry gits for years after they leave the service? Or is it just mine?

By 'warry git' do you mean abusive? Aggressive? Violent?

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 11/11/2013 12:45

Not as such - it's all talk these days. I'm not in an abusive relationship or anything. He did have form when he was younger though - used to get in fights. Before he met me. SIL says I have been his saving grace.

Judging by the various friends of mine that went in to the forces, they join because they're dead warry to start with, and their time in sort of concentrates them like a simmering sauce. Often with slightly burnt lumpy bits at the bottom.

In your place I'd be more worried by the prospect of the unparalleled sexual deviancy for which HM Royal Marines are justly famed and rightly feared the world over. Grin

Lol - I have heard many a story regarding the unparalled sexual deviancy!

I think warriness is schooled into them to such an extent that it's hard to settle down into civvy life afterwards.
DH is lovley, don't get me wrong, but gets maudling from time to time about Falklands and other stuff, when he drinks heavily and gets "all warry" (in words not deeds, and not with me and the kids). Ususally at some poor soul who's parked in the wrong place or something.

Just wondered if this is typical of ex-forces, or Bootnecks in particular.

Used to be, but I'm trying to convert him to tree-hugging!
