Speed dating...!

I'm meant to be going next Friday with a friend and I really am clueless. I've been single a while (bloody ages) and have been on plenty of dates but I'm just not very good at being myself. (I know that sounds ridiculous!)

I get nervous and instead of coming across as my chatty, confident self I think I come across as aloof and dull. Confused

So does anyone have any tips on how to come across well in 3 minutes please? I can't quite believe I've agreed to do this!

Thanks.

I would approach this as a bit of fun with no expectations. Wear something that is comfortable and take some deep breaths from your belly. Good luck and hope that this is a positive and enjoyable event for you.

Thanks for the replies.

Definitely want to approach it as a bit of fun...and want to come across like that too. Sure a cocktail (or 3) might help! WineWineWine

What the hell do you talk about for 3 minutes though? Ugh!

Start off by asking them how they're enjoying the evening so far to get the conversation started.

Other suggestions:

Did you drive tonight?
Have you ever done anything like this before?
Have you anything exciting planned for the rest of the weekend?
So tell me a little bit about yourself - what job do you do?
What do you like doing when you're not working?
Have you any holidays booked?
Did you go on holiday this year?

Three minutes soon passes and compared to Internet dating which I've given up on, I'd go for speed dating every time.

I've never done it, but I imagine it's worth thinking of a few non- cliche opening questions - maybe they could give you some ideas over on the dating thread? Good luck!

Whoops - massive X post!
