ODE TO FREEDOM

" Oh beautiful, oh dear, oh sweet freedom,
Gift in which all the fortune God gave us,
The true cause to all our Glory,
The only adornment of these woods,
Every bit of silver, every bot of gold
All human lives,
Can not repay your pure beauty!"

dont you have any friends you can recite this to? perhaps wearing a robin hood style hat whilst playing a lute. additional - dont bump your own topics on the second post.

Why does this poem mean something to you, OP?

Brokensoul · 30/10/2013 17:10

Tingle- if you don't have something smart to say do t say it at all.
Hi havever. It means so much. One of my colleague had suffered year of DV and EA and finally she got strength to get away. It had been such a long and difficult path for her and I am sure there are thousands of women out there in need of help and courage. It's not about being smart its about having that bit of soul left to fight it.
I didn't even know 1/10 of what was happening to her. We are not very close friends but then she didn't have any friends because of one rotten soul who was trying to destroy her life.

Just now, once I have spoken to her, I realise what freedom means to her and actually in a small way , to me...

But then we get sarcastic little souls like tingle1 who is obviusly so smart and quick with her mouth.
When I read other posters postings, if I don't have anything positive to write I keep quiet unlike her....

Thank you havever for asking.[ smile]

I think it's lovely that even though you are not close, her awful experience and now her freedom have had an impact on how you view things.

I wish your friend all the happiness and peace she deserves.

Brokensoul - I think you are being harsh on Tingle.

It's nice that you are happy for your friend and it's nice that you want to express that.

But out of any sort of context, the ode to freedom was never going to mean much to the rest of us.

(If I'm really honest, I'm still finding it hard to resonate with it. But I'm more of a prose person.)

Maybe you are right runningonwillpower. Maybe I was because to me it has got huge meaning but still there was no need to laugh at me, was there?
She never came back again so to me it was just petty and not necessary comment.
But you are right, I should celebrate life and freedom and be even more conciouse of people around me and see if and how I can positively contribute....
I can't imagine that kind of life and I learned already very well that you can't know what future brings... Unfortunately even for me....
Thank you......
