Feeling invisible .....wave at a mate!

Following on from Trish's good idea (and by request) this thread is the place to play 'bag a buddy' 'wave at a mate' or 'grab someone else's grip for a minute'

The original idea from the invisble thread was that it would be a brilliant idea if people had a friend they could pair up with ....just so someone is going to wave at you when you feel down.
It needed a thread.
This is it .....................

When my DD2 was a newborn DD1 used to watch it quite a lot and I got too in too it, my mum staged an intervention when she saw how enraged I was getting with Daddy Pig

IamInvisisble · 24/10/2013 21:00

Humpday when mine were small Teletubbies were meant to be a bad influence, but they've turned out all right!

DS1 watched too much Fireman Sam but he's not turned out like naughty Norman!

Annagramma · 24/10/2013 21:00

Pops Pig is shit but toddlers tantrum tbf, it's not that bad an influence. She sees a fun dad pulling his (quite substantial) weight which is definitely a good, but not too common, image to grow up wth, and there are some fun characters on there. I've not see any Peppa inspired behaviour, but she's definitely a Peppa addict, so it probably won't be on her screens for quite a while. Which means more time spent chasing after her as the only time she sits down is for that fucking pig.

He's a good dad but an annoying husband!

HaroldLloyd · 24/10/2013 21:10

Mummy Pig went to a fair recently and won everything, despite lots of sexist animals telling her she wouldn't be able to. That was a good one.

The one, huge, drawback is that it gives toddlers an overwhelming urge to jump in muddy bloody puddles.

waves to downstairs your in the right place then!

Awww Anna let her watch it. She'll have a tantrum over something else even if you don't. At least of she sits still and watches it, it'll give you 10 minutes for yourself.

When DS2 was little he loved watching City Hospital. We'd drop DS1 at pre-school and he'd say "Gaby, mummy" all the way home because Gaby Roslin presented it. He'd be really still watching it, and has been interested in all things medical ever since. He's doing his A levels now and wants to be a nurse, so maybe TV does have an influence.

HaroldLloyd · 24/10/2013 21:17

One of the finer moments for you Reprint!

Right, i'm new here, so 'bear with', how do I get you in 'bold' to say hi, what is a DS2, and since when weren't the teletubbies disturbing!!?? I have issues also with 'In the night garden!!'.........My 4 year old loves that, but why!!??? And can people please tell the Tweenies to pronounce their words correctly????

I'm ranting now, but have recently plugged my pc into my telly and have the kids on a diet of 'bananaman' 'dangermouse' 'trap door' and 'Count Duckula', and their grammar has come on leaps and bounds!!!!

Catacombmint · 24/10/2013 21:33

On the main talk page there is a link called 'getting started'

On there it talks about abbreviations, and there is a link to them all.

Pathetically I have never learnt to link on ipad, so can't. Sorry!

hawkeye21 · 24/10/2013 21:39

I feel your pain Anna , both for the tantrumming toddler and the Peppa Pig addiction. But at least it's not In the Night Garden. I refuse to have that on as I don't want to risk my DD getting addicted. Really cannot stand the show. It is so boring.

I'm definitely having one of those evenings. Having got the overtired, grumpy, tantrumy toddler to bed, the baby then objected to being put down on his playmat whilst I went for a wee. Boy, is he loud when he's not happy.

Annagramma · 24/10/2013 21:40

Hmm. Lasted barely a few minutes before I relented in my decision. No Peppa Pigfor now however, purely because she's decided she's a gerbil and gerbils obviously don't watch TV, right? Peppa Pig will be turned on tomorrow at the usual time and life will return to normal toddler pig loving. I'm not that cruel a mum. Honest.

Iam good luck to your DS' with his career/A-levels. Hopefully my DC are being influenced by TV in such a good way as your ds- although considering my eldest decided ham was cruel 'because what about PEPPA?' I'm wondering what sort of affect this will have on them. Either an animal rights activist or a pig farmer.

IamInvisisble · 24/10/2013 21:44

Thanks Anna

Humpday I think the Teletubbies were bad because they don't talk properly.
