Shift work

My DH works shifts. I hate them. I have a full time job and this week I haven't seen him at all because he leaves before I get home. I know that there are many, many other families that experience this but I miss not having anyone to talk to at night. Can't go out because the kids are in bed. Do other shift work partners feel the same or am I selfish?

no you are not alone getting there.
my dp works nights five times a week and he is either not here or he is in bed. Some days I see him for an hour before I have to go to my p/t job too.

I soo not what you mean about not having anyone to talk to at night. I found it terribly hard to adjust at first and I still don't like it some nights.

I find ways to keep myself amused. I come on mumsnet a lot, read books and watch telly. even so sometimes I get really bored.

now I relish the peace. No more snoring!

can't you get a babysitter?

Bundle, Getting a baby sitter would be easy, both sets of parents live within walking distance. However I work full time and leaving my kids at night would mean that I wouldn't get to see them either. As for going out once their asleep (with a sitter!!) I'm knackered!
