My boyfriend just said he was in a service station in Nottingham when I was chatting to him on facebook but his mobile phone signal was coming up as harkhill in Scotland.

don't know what to make of that - could his phone be wrong or not?

Yes. They can be.

Thants · 05/10/2013 00:07

I've never seen them be that far out. Mine says I'm a town over but not hundreds of miles. Would he have a reason to lie?

Rosencrantz · 05/10/2013 00:08

How long since you last saw him? How feasible is travel to Scotland in this time?

HoopersGinger · 05/10/2013 00:10

Yea facebook definitely does that. Mine has said both Scotland and London and I'm hundreds of miles from either.

RhondaJean · 05/10/2013 00:19

Hark hill?

There's a service station in Scotland called something like that and I wonder if they share some sort of connection if you know what I mean. Do you have any other reason to believe he is lying?

BreeWannabe · 05/10/2013 00:52

It's Harthill... A big service station between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
But yes, they can be wayyyy out... Mine has listed me in countries I've never been to!

BreeWannabe · 05/10/2013 00:52

But why not just ask him..?

BillyBanter · 05/10/2013 00:57

A friend of mine's fb told us she was in France once, rather than London.

OxfordBags · 05/10/2013 01:00

Yes, my friend is regularly listed as being in Wyoming - she actually lives in Hull!

RhondaJean · 05/10/2013 01:14

Cheers bree I could not get the name and it was annoying me.

I'm trying to think who it is that I know is in kilmarnockmand frequently comes up as Blackpool on mines...

Chandra · 05/10/2013 01:19

I have been in North Carolina when I was in California...

CogitoErgoSometimes · 05/10/2013 09:30

Why are you tracking your boyfriend's mobile signal?

Portofino · 05/10/2013 09:39

Are you talking about FB? Otherwise how would you see where he was?

Fragglewump · 05/10/2013 09:42

He might be or he might not be these things are seriously unreliable. Are there any other factors that are making you suspicious? How is your relationship generally? Has he given you reason to mistrust him?

mammadiggingdeep · 05/10/2013 09:51

My sisters said Edinburgh once instead of in Essex.....

If you both have iPhones and want to keep tabs on each other there is an app called 'find friends' which uses GPS to pinpoint down to a few meters where you and your friends and family are. I use it to track my daughter on her journeys home from school. She uses it on me when I'm on my way home to her. My husband uses it to spy on me ;) I don't even bother tracking him as he's always at work hahahahaha
It's also useful if you go to a festival with a big group and want to find each other at the end of the night.
