Page 4 | Looking for motivational songs to help with overcoming H affair and deceit

Some of you may have read my post on my H leaving me for a co-worker and know that I am really struggling to cope. Music is very important to me but I can't bear to have radio on or use my I-pod as there are so many songs that bring back memories. My H has an I-tunes account which I don't think he's deactivated yet so I'm looking to fill my I-pod with songs that will help me during the bad times to get my strength back and I would like some suggestions. I have thought of Alanis Morrisette - You Oughta Know and Kelis, Caught Out There (I hate you so much right now). Are there any other suggestions?

You have my sympathy, OP, as I've been going through something very similar for the last year or so, and I've also had to avoid whole swathes of my CD collection. But I've discovered some great new music and have rediscovered some old favourites. Some of the songs that have made me strong / made me laugh / generally helped put me in the good place I'm in now are:

Jake Bugg: Two Fingers (just love the general sentiment of sticking two fingers up defiantly to the world in general)
The Levellers: Beautiful Day ('cos actually, it often is - you just need to notice)
Ian Dury: Reasons to be Cheerful, pt 3 (enough said)
Laura Mvula: That's Alright (asking him who made you the centre of the universe?)
Kirsty MacColl: Bad (fab song about a good girl rebelling)
Lily Allen: Not Fair (just makes me smile)
The Specials: Stupid Marriage (just makes me laugh)
Cyndi Lauper: Girls Just Want to Have Fun (no explanation required!)
The Stranglers: Skin Deep (don't always take people at face value)

Music really can be wonderfully therapeutic.

I heard a new one on the way home, John Newman, Cheating. He's the one who sang, I wanna know now can you love me again. This new one is brilliant turned up loud.
