Just posted about this on another thread. I'm really impressed with how this storyline is showing the start of an abusive relationship. It shows how Patrick is gradually controllimg her. It touches on gaslighting, emotional abuse, physical abuse and how he is isolating her from her friends.

I'm particularly pleased that they are showing how this can happen to an attractive, outgoing, confident woman as I hope this will show that anyone can end up in an abusive relationship as some people don't seem to think that. The way they've shown it build gradually so you can understand why Maxine doubts the abuse and doesn't leave is also important in my opinion.

Anyone else seen it/have an opinion? I really think storylines like this are important in shows aimed at teens (so yes that does make me a little older than holyoaks target audience).

Hi mystery

I'm glad you've actually posted this cause I'm really hooked into Holloaks. My exH is a copy of Patrick and I ended up like Nancy. All in all...Nancy's story line is what my exH turned me into.

Most of my friends couldn't understand how my ex was abusing me. Now they can see via Hollyoaks how it all happened and they all remember encounters with my ex 'how nasty and manipulative' he was around them to make me feel like I'm worthless when we went out for meals and parties.

We need more of these reality shows that will not only entertain the public but also enlighten people about real life issues. Patrick is a classic emotional vampire/Narcissist/Compulsive disordered being. Sad to say that majority of his kind are top in the society because they are dare devils. As they say, the child of a snake is a snake...Sienna is indeed an extension of Patrick. Can't wait to watch the Omnibus tomorrow night.
