It's horrible feeling knowing your being spied on.
It's been a few yrs for me but if you have a look around my documents you might find something that save all typed conversations in individual files.
It can also log online conversation from other computers too don't ask me how though.
Someone might come along and give better info.
Either way his chat logger could back fire on him as it will be saving his conversations too if he isn't being careful.

My ex did this to me and even showed me what he was doing,i did nothig to warrant it either and he didn't bank on me having a look at his conversations he had something to hide.

Take it to one of those shops on the High St that buy, sell and fix computers. Ask them to have a look. That is what I would do (being fairly clueless about techno stuff)

Are you ok, are you safe ?

JustinBsMum · 20/08/2013 18:41

If you go to control panel and look at Prgrams and Features (on my laptop) or Add Remove Programs and see if the program is listed in there.

bountyicecream · 21/08/2013 17:22

I'm ok and safe thanks

Will prob go to local shop as am not great with comps.

I'm suspicious partly by things he knows but also that he is inordinately angry that I've been given an iPad by someone (not just jealousy) says it is divisive and coming between us even though I'm not on it any more than my laptop. In fact now only really use it in bed. But M thinking he might be upset if its sopping his spying

If a windows PC
Start
Control Panel
Programs and Features
Filter by Installed On (if you think this is recent)
It might not be named "key logger" so Google anything that doesn't have a publisher such as Microsoft, Acer (if that's the pc brand) Apple, Adobe etc.

bountyicecream · 21/08/2013 17:33

Thanks. Will try later

No problem, i hope you're ok.

Sounds a shite situation to be in.

cozietoesie · 21/08/2013 18:10

And in the interim, activate the On Screen Keyboard and change your passwords with that if you have to use the laptop. (Just changing your passwords won't matter because if you have a keylogger, it will have clocked the new ones - using the OSK will pretty well prevent that unless he's actually standing over you watching you use it.)

Oh - and use the OSK from now on for anything you don't absolutely want him to see.

Lampie · 21/08/2013 18:20

I would use this free software. dewasoft.com/privacy/kldetector.htm. its very very easy to use and will tell you if there is key logger software on your system.

HTH

Lampie · 21/08/2013 18:23

Posted too soon. Some key loggers have a stealth mode so will not appear in the programme list.

AllFallDown · 21/08/2013 19:32

How awful for you. Get a computer expert to check. And if he has, confront him.

And maybe those people who advise women here to do this to their husbands' computers might think twice about whether or not that is good advice,

applepieinthesky · 21/08/2013 20:00

You need to download a program like the one Lampie has suggested. Most keylogger software doesn't show on the program list.

arsenaltilidie · 21/08/2013 21:21

It depends how good at computers your DP.
If he's good with computers (ie. can write program's) then you are better of taking it to the shops.
Otherwise use Spybot Search and Destroy, it's free and really good for that sort of thing.

cozietoesie · 21/08/2013 22:16

He doesn't need to be good, arsenaltilidie. He just needs to have had a few hours clear run and as deep pockets as matched the degree of sophistication he wanted. (To buy in software or expertise.)
