A family member of mine has a 1 year old with her ex partner. Arranging regular contact between the two of them doesn't work. He hasn't seen his DD for a month and all sorts of arguments come about whenever family member tries to suggest fixed days/nights for him to have DD. So far it's been a couple days notice for taking DD, and a lot of letting down and changing plans.

I've suggested arranging contact more formally through a solicitor or such like before things get really nasty between them. Can anyone give me any pointers for her where to start? She is on SMP at present, and is re-entering education this year so will be on income support then. What are the costs involved and can she get any help with them from somewhere?

Mediation, www.familymediationhelpline.co.uk It's means tested so she should get a reduction in cost or free.
