I met DH on pof 7 years ago... he did not lie about his height (5'0" - I'm half a foot taller) but I thought he sounded a laugh. Did not sleep with him on first date but was not able to resist on second you need to have an excellent bullshit meter if you go on there

I thought that was quite a funny article, it all seemed very tongue in cheek to me.

I actually went on a date with a guy like this. I knew he was a bullshitter, he told lots of lies before we met and tripped himself up, and I went to meet him purely for the entertainment value. A lot of people wouldn't have gone, but I was really intrigued to see how far he would go with his stories and if he could keep them up face-to-face. It was a fun evening, it really was, but there was no way I would have fallen for any of it and I'm sure other people wouldn't either. He wasn't on PoF by the way

There are a lot of bullshitters online, but there are a lot of bullshitters in real life too. Not just in dating but everywhere. Life is full of people peddling bullshit in order to get other people to do what they want, and if we have reached adulthood without being aware of this and having mechanisms to deal with it, then something is very, very wrong.
