What should she put in the bag? 22yo BF off to US

22 year old boyfrined of my niece (also 22) is going to work in US for 6 months. My niece wants to make him up a goody bag of sentimental tosh to take - funny bits and pieces plus a few things to remind him of her/them. She'll be going out to see him half way through his stay and they'll be texting obviously.

She's asked me for ideas about what to put in the bag. If it was my friend, sister or workmate who'd ask me it would be easier as I could suggest some smutty stuff, but as its my niece I'm struggling.

Any ideas what I could tell her to put in the bag?

my DC4 has just gone out for a summer camp season

before he went DC1 (been there, done that) made up a care package of Cadburys (US chocolate is awful) plus teabags & digestive biscuits.

Things like HP sauce & mustard might be good too.

(of course you can actually buy those things out there but they are v expensive so anything he really likes would make a nice present Smile)

Thanks Ponders

Anyone else able to offer suggestions?

I'd do nothing... Grin

But, at a push for romance, probably write a long mushy letter, and a collection of meaningful songs.
If he likes reading, maybe a book they both can read at the same time and then talk about. At least one frame with a photo of both or her.

Is he taking a camera?

A laminated card reminding him to not shag anyone bigger than Hoss Cartwright.... Hmm

Cognito - that's the sort of thing I'd suggest Grin, but with it being my niece it doesn't seem quite right still funny though

Do young uns still make mix tapes? That or whatever the modern days equivalent is might be a nice idea and a photo of them together.
She needs to tread quite lightly here as what should be a really lovely gesture could just end up looking like "Please don't shag any Yanks".

I also second the HP sauce. When I was travelling a little cafe next to a hostel I stayed in had HP but the lady had to keep it under the counter because she got mobbed by Brits if she had it on show :)
