I want to do something nice for partner but no idea what

Partner is away a lot with work and I work weekends so we get very little time together. He is going away next month again and before then I want to take some time just for us. I have a little bit of money to spoil him/us with but just no idea what to do.
He is really romantic and sweet and is just happy to spend time with me. (We live together and I have two teens so little time)

So anyone got any ideas on what to do? What do you do to make your partner happy or spoil them?

I once wrote my husband a long list of all the things I liked about him. Even the silly ones (and a couple of saucy ones). He loves it.

That sounds great for when he is away actually. We communicate by email a lot due to his work/travel. Will have to do that one. Thank you

How about getting rid of the teens and cooking a meal for him. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, but dressing up and lighting a few candles can work wonders.

Where are you and what kind of things do you enjoy? A fabulously long indulgent lunch at a great restaurant could be fun? Or an independent cinema for a matinee film, where you get comfy seats and a bottle of wine then go for drinks and dinner after?

Getting rid of teens is quite hard as they are early teens and don't do overnights with their dad. (his choice) The nice meal sounds good but I can't cook to save my life. I wonder if I could get those M&S meal deal things? or is that not romantic enough?
Cinema sounds good too. I guess I will have to get googling to find something suitable. Thank you for the ideas

I have been known to ask a restaurant (a proper one) if we can have stuff to take away. Quite a few are happy to do it even though they don't normally and we get random containers. It means I can set the table with all the best stuff, get dressed up and have candles etc but without the long journey home.
