injunction and occupation orders does anyone know anything.?

So just been to solicitor today and found out about injunction orders. Does anyone have any experience in having taken one out how long it took etc etc? Feel a bit overwhelmed atm.

Also am stressed as my family are very obstructive they think divorce etc is the worst thing ever and are insisting I stay and work it out. They think I am the one at fault and will not accept
His abuse. They refuse to hear me or listen if I try to explain how horrendous daily life with the fw os.

Anyway thete are a lot of barriers to me escaping and just want to get as much help and advice as possible before I act and to protect myself

I thought if you got an injunction against him (your xP) it would be effective immediately? same for occupation orders.

I got an injunction out recently on my H, although mine wasn't a typical case - he wasn't physically threatening but instead was playing a clever tactical game of claiming that I was verbally abusing him in order to try and get me arrested and therefore kicked out of the marital home. Charming man that he is.

In my case, I decided to go ahead with trying for it, my sol asked me for a statement and drafted one up for me (cost me about an hour of her time), and then I turned up to court and represented myself. It was just me and the Judge in the court room, I found it absolutely fine to do alone, although struggled a bit to understand whether she'd granted it or not .

Occupation orders are, as far as I can make out, more expensive and time consuming. A lot depends on the circumstances - it's harder if they are already in the house and if they own it independently. Hopefully your solicitor can advise you whether it's worth trying to go for it.
