On google ads keep popping up advertising dating sites with pictures of women also i went out last night and today noticed on partners i pad on puffin an advertisement popped up to chat to other girls does this mean my partner has been viewing or logging into these sites ? is there a way for me to find out? on his i pod once i clicked the history and noticed he had viewed porn.i never told him it did upset me as it was men about 60 with girls which looked 18/19/20 years.

Some routers will show you the history of web sites that have been requested. It sounds likely he is logging on to porn sites, but ads popping up isn't really proof.

Not necessarily, it can be due to targeted ads which try and lure people in based on whether they think they'll fit the target demographic. When I was doing research for a project I was looking at a lot of army recruitment pages. Google decided I was a young, testosterone fuelled man and my targeted ads and pop ups became dating/chat/porn sites and join the marines type stuff. I'd never looked at any naughty pages and it was my personal computer so this can happen when someone hasn't been looking at anything they shouldn't.

If he's got an iPad, you can check his history in a less obvious way than just clicking the history in the browser itself, and in a way that many users don't know about when they delete their browsing history.

Go to Settings>Safari>scroll the page to the bottom and click on Advanced>Website Data. This will show history, unless he's savvy enough to have deleted from there recently.

Obviously it's up to you whether you want to do this or not, as TricksyBee said, the ads can be targetting wrong.

Those ads can be targeted at a lot of "male-based" websites, my brother used to be obsessed with cars and every time he'd been on the computer there were hundreds of porny/chat/dating pop ups - full history checked, nothing but cars.

No. On my old computer I used to get them popping up here, on MN. I could never click on any thread about sex, or relationships without Svetlana appearing and offering to service me live on a webcam.

Dp has never used that computer. (and I'm not into Svetlanas)

Someone geeky said it was malware but I never got rid of it. On new puter, which dp does use, I can click on anything ta-dah and no Svetlana.

Why don't you just ask him? Why is your first instinct to snoop about and check his browsing history? If there are problems in your relationship, if you don't trust him, if he has a track-record of doing something similar in the past then a face-to-face conversation has to be on the cards.... judge if he's being honest by his reaction. If everything in the garden is rosy, even more reason to ask a straight question.

I had the same when looking at game cheat websites for the DC, if you don't have a good anti virus on your PC then you can pick up filth quite easily.

I also use a few sites directed towards women eg hair and makeup sites and get ads for dating sites because you must obviosuly be desperately looking for a man if you want to look nice

I get targeted ads which are based on stuff I've looked at online (clothes, sports gear); I also get facebook ads which seem to be targeted at 40s female demographic-type eg hair, makeup, cosmetic procedures (!); weightloss.

When my FB profile stated I was interested in men and women I got a lot of ads for lesbian holidays.

My DH and I both play a stupid FB game; I don't seem to get ads on it but DH gets ads for dating sites (message: middle aged gamer men must be single)

i don't get pop up ads of any kind though. Perhaps it's dependent on the types of site visited. I wouldn't be surprised if porn viewing resulted in aggressive ad-targeting including pop ups.

Hmm I know sites can pick up key words you've typed and target ads in that way, Not just from the search bar but messages on Facebook etc.
I remember being on my dh's MySpace account years ago and it had an ad for 'meet chubby girls in your area now!' I was wondering what he'd been saying about me in his messages to his friends after that!

No, it’s cookie related , I checked our router at one point and can see in full whats looked at (private browsing or not) you only have to see the amount of tracking cookies related to a single web page view (including mumsnet by the way) and you will realise why you get so many targeted ads or in some cases spam . It’s all about demographics, my h gets over 40 dating, funeral plans, cars and shit loads of bitcoin for some reason, I get beauty stuff, business related things and insurance stuff

If your husband downloads movies like Fromm pirate bay etc which a lot of people do they spam your computer with all kinds of crap like that sometimes even opening up random porn sites that go into history making it look as tho they had been searched
One good way you can be 100% sure is download splash top dobthe custom install so no trace on the computer then when you go out simply click logon and can see the whole screen

Given the context I would say most definitely he has. Why not just check the history of each device?
