it's been a long time coming. She's devastated. but I'd like to help her in any way I can.

they've done counselling. it's been years of unhappiness, nothing bad, just unhappy people.

so if she goes to a solicitor, what should she be asking?

She's mainly a SAHM with occasional freelance work.

I know almost nothing about the legal side of divorce and can't offer much help but I'm replying to bump your thread and hopefully someone else can offer some advice.

There is a big chunk of information that one poster wrote that gets copied in a lot of threads about divorce. I can't remember who compiled it or anything that might help me find it but it was a big list of links to do with anything and everything divorce related - benefits guide, financial advice, counselling I think etc. If anyone reading this can link to it that might be a help. Any ideas anyone?

The Citizens Advice website is clear and helpful - probably more in terms of thinking about the questions that have to be asked. The right answers will depend very much on your friend's circumstances.
