Concerned about sister

My younger sister is 24 and has always been quick to laugh at people falling over and hurting themselves etc, the thing is she takes it much further than most people and will actually be bent over in stitches whilst everyone else is doing what they can to help or just showing concern, an example of this happened last week at work when a woman hit her head on a shelf and almost knocked herself out, my sisters face turned bright red and she had to actually leave the room to avoid laughing at her in front of everyone Angry.

At the moment I'm concerned at the way she is treating her fiance as I can see him walking out before long Sad, he is a pretty big bloke, not obese but overweight and she actually encouraged her kids to stick pillows up their sweaters and walk around immitating him, he ignored it the best he could but she was doubled over in stitches. She rips the mick out of his clothes and often wrecks his shoes and trainers because they ammuse her so much and she creases up if he hurts himself or if he gets a stomach ache. The kids are the same.

She just finds everything so funny, nothing is serious with her. Angry

She sounds horrible

WWWontSlagOffAnyone · 07/05/2006 13:01

She does sound horrible. Why don't you just leave her to it, she's going to realise at some point that her behaviour doesn't win friends and influence people. But she can't be a very happy person imo, happy sorted people don't behave like this.

WelshBoris · 07/05/2006 13:03

She obviously hates herself,I pity her. Shame she has to bring her kids up the same way Sad

Seashells · 07/05/2006 13:06

Sounds like she has a serious issue with her self confidence.

Hardy80 · 08/05/2006 12:04

Does he take the mick out of her too or is it all one sided? does she laugh when she hurts herself?

starlover · 08/05/2006 12:12

that's horrible! and especially getting the kids to take the piss too... serious lack of respect.

poor man

bramblina · 08/05/2006 12:16

Is she very insecure? At 24 bit late but prob the only cure is for it to come back and bite her on the ass.

maltesers · 08/05/2006 12:17

Sounds like she has a serious lack of empathy for anyone. She sounds somewaht childishand inconsiderate. Were you parents like that at all ?

Socci · 08/05/2006 12:19

I think there must be more to it than her just being a bad person. Obviously I don't know her - but it sounds quite abnormal for anyone to behave like that. She needs help imo.

blueshoes · 08/05/2006 12:38

LaurenP, oh dear. Has your sister always been like this? It sounds far from normal, like her brain does not allow her to empathise with people who are hurting. Apart from this, does she find it hard to socialise, make friends?

maltesers · 10/05/2006 11:18

Valis point and question blueshoes and also does whe work at all ?

bummer · 10/05/2006 11:42

"Nowt so queer as folk" often comes to mind with my sister and now yours. Sorry not at all helpful but have you tried talking to her about it you never know she may be totally unaware and think she is just being friendly at times.
