Hiya,

A bit of background....I have always had long term relationships that started off with us being friends then drifting into a relationship and becoming very dysfunctional! I have had therapy and put it all to bed, I feel ready to move on and have a healthy relationship.

But here's my problem, a friend of a friend has asked me out on a date at the weekend, from the sounds of it is a really nice, normal guy. I'm terrified! I'm in my mid twenties and have never been on a date! I'm panicking, which isn't helping, I have no idea what to say/do/act like. Is there any date etiquette I should know about?? All the guys I've been with previously have had....ishooooosss and were incredibly self centred so I feel, they didnt really pay attention to me as a person just wanted me to adore them, but this guy wants to know me! Iyswim?

Sorry if this is a rambley mess that makes no sense! I just want it to go well! So if you have any advice I would be grateful! Xx

ooh, exciting, hair! It sounds cliched, but just be yourself! don't lie, and remember to ask him questions about himself (everyone likes talking about themselves, and it will take the heat off YOU!)

Enjoy yourself - don't invest too much in it. Arrange to meet for coffee/a drink at about lunch time so that if you don't click, you can both walk away after an hour with no loss of face or awkwardness - and if you do like each other, you can go on somewhere else.

Enjoy it!

I was with my sons dad from age 16 til age 21 so had never been on a proper date before.

My first one I was a wreck! Grin

I get nervous on first dates still. I went on a date a month ago. A day time one and it lasted nearly 6 hours. I tripped up, spilt beer/food down me etc but I'm still seeing him now Grin So don't worry!

Thanks guys, I have a stutter so this is my man problem really, it makes me so embarrassed! I'm just worried my mind will go blank and I won't even be able to think of any questions to ask him!
