csa calculator

My stbxh has just announced he will be paying me what the csa recommends as a minimum amount on their diy online calculator thing. This is a ridiculously small amount compared to what he earns and what my ds needs not even starting with the mortgage he's left me with. Does anyone know how accurate these are? Is it worth me contacting them or will this basically be what the figures will be?

I would suggest it's worth getting in touch with them yourself.
My ex said he'd pay what the online calculator said he should then for months he either paid half that amount or nothing at all!
I contacted them and felt better knowing even if its less, a guaranteed amount is better than risking getting nothing.

You realise that his calculations could probably are wrong?

Have you tried it yourself?

And much better to have payments through them, yes.

Just go to the CSA yourself. That way he will pay direct form his wages and he will not be able to hold you to ransom as to whether or not he will pay you this month or the next.

CSA will be 15% of net income (for one child, 20% for two or 25% for three). Child support is different to spousal maintenance though. The courts will consider what is required to provide reasonable accommodation taking into account child support + your income + spousal maintenance to make up shortfall as far as I know.
