When do you take off the ring?

That's about it really - my husband left at the end of December and i am not ready to take it off although there is no hope for reconciliation. I've noticed he's still wearing his as well.

It just seems so final and i know i will be so upset when he does remove it... Sad

I took it off the day he told me he couldn't give up his 'friendship' with OW. As far as I was concerned my marriage was over at that point.

I took mine off the day he walked out. Then put it back on when I thought we were having a "trial separation", then took it off again for good, the day that he ended it for good. He never wore his again after the first time he walked out.

See that's just it - no chance for reconciliation but I'm still so reluctant and even though it's his decision, he's still wearing his! Just another thing that you never imagined having to worry about...

Quite like the idea of the other hand maybe

I wasn't married but was engaged and took about 6 months before I did and even then I swapped it to the other hand. I knew I'd never trust another man to get engaged again so wanted to keep it for as long as possible.

I took mine off one day when I finally realised that the marriage I thought I had was a figment of my imagination and that clinging on to hope that he would change was pointless.

It was just an ordinary day - I had a bit of an epiphany out of nowhere and took it off on the way to work. I realised I was ashamed to be married to him. Sad, but that's how I felt. I wish things were different, I still do - the romantic fool in me probably still loves him a little bit, but I just couldn't be taken for a mug any more.

I gave mine back to him the day he told me the whole sordid story about OW. I moved out same day. I put it back on the day I cancelled the divorce. That was a long time after we reconciled, as I am no fool. Having emotionally detached and gained strength I didn't want to burn all my bridges too early.

He took his off a long time after we separated. I don't know why, I'll never understand that.
