What would happen...

if someone stalked a narcissist or a sociopath? Would that ever happen?

I know stalkers can latch onto someone with very little encouragement ie they don't even need to know the person, but I wondered how it would be if the person they picked on was excessively self interested. Would they see the stalking as justified admiration, would they even notice it or would they hate it?

I suspect the stalker would get bored with all the texts asking 'Why haven't you pestered me today?! It's all 'me me me' with you, isn't it?' :)

Grin @ cogito.

I was just thinking that anyone being stalked suffers, but wondered what would happen if someone who wanted all the attention got stalked.

Sorry, just musing!

Most people enjoy the attention at first though don't they?

ImperialBlether · 31/12/2012 20:54

I wondered whether a stalker sort of gets off on the fact that their attentions aren't reciprocated.

Well they wouldn't have to stalk if it was reciprocated, would they.

dequoisagitil · 31/12/2012 21:44

Is this like that bit of 'Little Shop of Horrors' where the sadistic dentist (Steve Martin) meets the masochistic patient (Bill Murray) and is disgusted by him? Grin

ImperialBlether · 31/12/2012 22:18

Haven't seen that! Sounds like exactly what I was thinking of!

I can sort of answer this in that I have a narcissistic relative who wasnt stalked but had a very needy and adoring friend.

He was very pissed off and down on this person, slagged them off, was nasty (really vile) to their face and didnt have a good word to say about them. Which is weird considering that the adoration is exactly what he demands from everyone else! It has left me thinking that what he wants is adoration from the very people that wont give it, an almost masochistic thing.

Bogeyface · 01/01/2013 00:39

He described the person as pathetic that they needed him so much, yet threw amazing tantrums when the rest of us didnt need him that much at all.

ImperialBlether · 01/01/2013 10:21

Thanks, Bogeyface, that's exactly what I was thinking would happen.

Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch) married her stalker!

She's deffo a me-me-me person.

Schlock · 01/01/2013 13:07

Interesting, bogeyface!

Cogito - Xmas Grin

I think narcissists should all have a stalker. Just for fun, like.

Bogeyface · 01/01/2013 14:26

Gary Numan married his stalker too!

ImperialBlether · 01/01/2013 18:58

Bet Lynch definitely has narcissistic tendencies, don't you think? Didn't know that about Gary Numan though. It makes me sick to think of someone marrying a person they would categorise as a stalker.

"She is the ardent fan who met her idol when she broke into his car - "she still insists she wasn't a stalker," smiles Gary - and married him in 1997. "

Gary Numan discussing his wife, she sounds like a stalker to me! When they got married she engraved his ring with "Thank you for making my dreams come true" which could be really lovely. But given that she was his stalker sounds incredibly creepy!

Bogeyface · 01/01/2013 21:38

That said, GN isnt a narcissist, but he does have Aspergers and says that she is driving force behind his life and career as he doesnt get alot of social interaction. That might explain why he didnt get the warning signs!
