DH finally moving out this weekend. How can I make it easier for the dc?

He's only moving down the road so they'll see lots of him but as he's been packing the mood has got lower and lower.

Try to explain and be honest. Yes it's different but you both still love them and Will see him etc

How old are dc?

12, 11 and 6.

we told them about 2 weeks ago but due to his new flat not being ready, he's still here. think it's really confused them.

How reasonable is he being? Will he work with you on emphasising positive things eg that they can choose new bedding or whatever for when they go to stay with him? Or is he aggressive/whining/trying to pressure you to change your mind? If it's the latter, take them out for a treat if you can afford it.

He was being reasonable but think his own emotions are getting in the way.

He's getting a bit grumpy and sad.

I'm taking them to a party the day before but thinking maybe we'll get take away the night he goes or something.

Keep as much of your usual household routines as similar as you can. Answer questions (even silly ones). Leave making any other changes until a bit of time has passed.

A new house/flat has the potential to be exciting.

Can they be part of the move and help him unpack and arrange things? It will be their new home part of the time as well as his, presumably.

lesser -yep they'd love to help i expect. he's allowed to paint so have been told its their job to chose the paint etc

independent- good idea. do you think their could have been a way to ask that question? as in, how can i make sure that they can ask about things lik that?
