At what age do father's need to start being dressed in front of their daughter's? My ex is unhappy that I have said that he should be dressed when DD stays with him at the weekend, am I being too prim? DD is just 7 and has not said she has a problem.

I think it is what ever age you and your family feel comfortable with. I think for many girls it may be around the age of puberty when they feel more aware of their own bodies.Fr some it may nt the case at all. My friend isn't bothered at all and she is in her 20s.

pie · 06/01/2004 15:15

Don't Hulababy.

JanH · 06/01/2004 15:15

Ooh - tough one - very hard to say when they live apart. If she hasn't said anything you could be jumping the gun a bit but it's not a subject you can easily bring up in a casual way with a 7-yr-old.

Obviously you are uncomfortable with it yourself - that may be a good enough reason to insist on it - though if your ex is a person who isn't over-modest I can understand why he's miffed.

Sorry - not much help!

Hulababy · 06/01/2004 15:15

No problem pie. Understood. Thanks.

Andyrew - Do you mean he shouldn't walk about bollock naked in front of her? Or do you mean he should be fully clothed at all times when she's there?? I mean my Dad sometimes walked about with just boxer shorts on in the morning until I was well into my teens and I didn't think anything of it. In fact I took great delight in slapping his wobbly beer belly! Nice image!

I think this has the potential to be a thread which causes friction. I suspect that this person is no more a parent (or mother) than I am Pope JP !

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Well I don't think its a troll thread! Nothing pervy in the original post at all.

JanH · 06/01/2004 15:41

I thought that too M2T

ParanoidWife · 06/01/2004 15:42

The username and subject matter set my alarm bells ringing. It sounds to me like the poster is trying to get other posters to discuss their experiences, which would seem fairly ok generally but this one just sets my teeth on edge. I'm bowing out, best of luck to those who do decide to 'help'.

Paranoid wife - Isn't that what your thread was about too though!?

Kayleigh · 06/01/2004 15:44

and i thought we agreed to give someone the "benefit of the doubt" etc etc on the other thread so not sure you should be quite so quick to jump to conclusions

if we carry on like this no-one will ever post anything apart from receipes and chat again and that would be too sad

ThomCat · 06/01/2004 15:47

It's only a problem if you let it be or when the child feels uncomfortable.

Andyrew · 06/01/2004 16:11

Am really sorry that I posted this now. Am a mother of a DD and a step DD. Andyrew is my partner's nickname for me and I use it as my user name for other sites. Never even crossed my mind that this would be scene as a "troll" as this is something I am genuinely concerned about.(didn't even know what troll was until now.)
Thanks to the people that did believe me. Guess I need to change my user name to something more acceptable

Andyrew - PLEASE don't be offended. Troll hysteria seems to have taken over this site recently.

I believe you.
