OD, when does dating become boyfriend/girlfriend relationship?

Been seeing lovely man who I met online for about 6 or 7 weeks, lots of lovely dates, including weekends away, met his family and making plans for weekends coming up ...... all going great. After our first date we both agreed that we would not pursue other online dates, texting etc now we had met and are planning to carry on seeing each other. So question, when does dating turn into a relationship? When do you start calling someone a BF or GF? Does it just happen or do you actually have a conversation about it?!

You were in a relationship when you planned the second date & you can call him whatever you like really. I'd say the transition to 'partner' is trickier. To me it suggests a pretty permanent arrangement, living together etc but I've noticed some people use it for something more casual.

I agree with cogito. My boyfriend became my boyfriend at 3 months when we said "I love you". Now it's been ten months and we live together, I see him as my partner

We became BF/GF when we first had a 'proper' kiss... WELL after the 1st or 2nd date (we're very slow!) - but we'd agreed 'exclusivity' earlier than that. Can't remember when I started referring to him as my partner, was before we started living together but 'BF' felt too insubstantial.

For me second date, when we first kissed and agreed not to see other people. I think it's the exclusivity which pushes it from dating to bf/gf.

mm, it's a difficult one, and probably different in each case. My DH had proposed marriage within a few weeks of us meeting each other - by that time I had not even properly accepted that we were in a relationship, but weirdly I didn't hesitate to say yes. Other people can be seeing each other for years without ever really committing to being boyfriend/girlfriend.
