Erm...hope nobody minds?

TimeForMeAndDD · 27/10/2012 14:06

Thank you Lubey! And yes, I am totally with you on the focussing of the mind. I'm wondering what I can order next...! Grin

I agree with MadamO too. I am as complete as I am. If a man were to walk out of my life he would not leave a man shaped hole, my life would remain as full without him as it was with him. A relationship is not the whole of the pie, it is just a part of it.

Yogagirl17 · 27/10/2012 14:10

watch - to be fair to mr60 (yes, ok, maybe I'm still in denial a little) - he never really just 'tried to fuck me' (most of that came from me to try and hang on to him and it never happened in the end). Aside from the odd filthy text message after we were over, he was always really open and honest with me and genuinely did not treat me badly. He just didn't want to be with me.

Yogagirl17 · 27/10/2012 14:13

argh, x-posts, thread moving too fast! watch- you are totally 1000% right that it was the promise of what could be that I fell for. and that promise IS out there in the world, not just in him.

OP posts:
watchoutforthatsnail · 27/10/2012 14:15

oh, ok, obviously dont know the whole story, but again, all seems to link back to self esteem and valuing ourselves......

( and i think we have all done that, so dont feel too bad....)

watchoutforthatsnail · 27/10/2012 14:17

exactly
:)

bantamrooster · 27/10/2012 14:25

Makethepainstop he sounds like a bit of a tosser, judging your relationship with your exH like that. To me, that sounds like he was preparing to make a tactical withdrawal and was setting up the reasons for it during the conversation.

As far as dating sites go, I've looked at a few (I'm on DatingDirect, which uses the same profiles as Match I believe, it's just easier to say I'm on Match as everyone knows that one)

It's been okay for me, the 'daily 6' they send through each day are mostly rubbish. Too far away, too old, too young, too frighteningly scary.

I looked at datingforparents, and the profiles there seemed lower quality, although how you can tell I don't know.

Haven't tried MySingleFriend although people on here say it's got low numbers of guys in there. GuardianSoulmates might give you people more into your politics/world view if that's what you're into.

I think Eharmony, MatchAffinity, OKC etc which use special woo algorithms to match you up are rubbish. There's no validation to it at all, no piece of software can tell you whether there'll be chemistry or not. Only meeting someone can tell you that. And there will probably be quite a few dates with guys before you feel it.

I'd say go with Match, more likely to find people round your area. You can probably find more blokes with kids on there than you could on SingleParents.com (or whatever you're using)

bantamrooster · 27/10/2012 14:27

And part of me wants to join JewishSingles.com and ask if anyone fancies going for a cheeseburger, just to see.

bantamrooster · 27/10/2012 14:29

oh and for those of you who ever received weird oddball emails, consider yourself lucky compared to this:

itsnotamatch.com/2012/10/26/the-scariest-email-ive-ever-received/

Makethepainstop · 27/10/2012 15:04

Yes think I tend to agree about being a tossed now!! My wanker radar must not be switched on properly and let him slip through the net! I just googled a few single parent dating websites and guess who's photo cropped up on lots of them...... Mmmnnnn weird!

So then onwards and upwards. Will get looking on match and okcupid. Thanks for the tips xxx

Yogagirl17 · 27/10/2012 15:14

LOL Bantam, if you're going to do that might as well really go for it and see who fancies a bacon cheeseburger! Anyway, Jewish dating in the UK is slightly horrifying as everyone is someone's ex or ex's best friend or cousin or went to school with your best mate's sister. No thanks.

Think I'm going to email the geek and tell him I that as much as I enjoyed his company yesterday it feels like it's going to be awfully hard work just to get to know each other.

And another 'ooooh' at cosmic spookiness!

OP posts:
bantamrooster · 27/10/2012 15:39

yoga - I was thinking of adding the bacon, but I believe that's known as adding insult to blasphemy... Grin

Yogagirl17 · 27/10/2012 15:48

Nah...once the damage is done! (On the plus side, there probably wouldn't be much talk of sausages) Wink

snapespeare · 27/10/2012 16:04

Am FULL of cheesecake. :). sponge it was great meeting you, you are such a lovely woman. I really appreciate your very thoughtful gift (you really didn't have to do that!) & it was so very nice of you to take the time and effort to character assassinate voldemort take me for cake. It was just what I needed. Thank you. :)

Incidentally, you have AMAZING eyes and a smashing warm smile. I think apart from your generous heart they are your best feature. :)

watchoutforthatsnail · 27/10/2012 16:16

WHAT - cheese AND cake, in one delicous mouthful.
gah = SO jealous.

:)

snapespeare · 27/10/2012 16:18

Couldn't finish it. Was actually TOO MUCH CAKE. :)

Bought a dartboard. Wink

MadameOvary · 27/10/2012 16:20

Bought a dartboard
Oh I HOPE you're serious Grin

watchoutforthatsnail · 27/10/2012 16:23

i dont believe you, how can there be such a thing as too much cake?

i do believe, however, that throwing darts, in a violent manner at peoples pictures, is quite satisfying......:)

snapespeare · 27/10/2012 16:27

Yes. Actually bought a magnetic dartboard. I may have a photo or two stashed away on my computer that I have not yet deleted and may be using for unspecified purposes.

snapespeare · 27/10/2012 16:28

'Unspecified purposes' not being a wank and a good cry.

bantamrooster · 27/10/2012 16:33

Is that a good name for the next thread? 'Dartboards, a wank and a good cry'? Kind of removes the optimistic vibe

Yogagirl17 · 27/10/2012 16:34

Love the idea of the dartboard! Jealous of the cheesecake. Glad you and sponge had a lovely date. Smile

watchoutforthatsnail · 27/10/2012 16:36

bant - noooooooo, this thread shall be banished to the depths of history, never to be mentioned again.

we dont need the worse things ( or things refering to) carrying over to the next thread. it should be something upbeat i think. or self affirming.

snapespeare · 27/10/2012 16:45

Upbeat and positive? Like a dartboard. :)

black humour will never desert me. It's one of the good things about me, that I really like about myself --& thank you whoever posted that glorious post on my fb. I like a bunch of stuff about myself :)

Yogagirl17 · 27/10/2012 16:47

In that case watch maybe the next thread should be dedicated to Pirate Dating!! Have fun tonight Wink
