He loves his phone more than me?

My partner got himself a new shiny phone couple of months ago and since then he's absolutely addicted to it. Networking and all that... Is it just me...?! I find it incredibly rude when a grown up man is obsessed with using his phone like a teenager. I'm in the same room as him, expecting some sort of conversation, yet he's probably googling pictures of funny cats. Seriously... 'Rant over'

My first thought when someone is suddenly glued to their phone is always suspicious I'm afraid. Think I've spent too much time on MN...

tiredofwaitingforitalltochange · 21/10/2012 20:57

Haha yes me too. Is he just playing with when you are there because he's got a new toy and he's enjoying it, or is it glued to him and he won't leave it lying around?

MaryWants2getMarried · 21/10/2012 21:01

I don't think it's that. I trust him not to do anything like that (porn probably yes, but nothing more).

Funny cats and porn? (Resists temptation to make a pussy joke... fails) Sounds like you've got a real winner on your hands there OP... Hmm

MaryWants2getMarried · 21/10/2012 21:07

I understand the fascination with technology as I've got a new phone myself with unlimited internet and am constantly on eBay or here... But not when I'm in the company of other people! I have mentioned it to him before but he doesn't get it. I should probably add that I have pmt and I could easily kill man or animal Grin

My STBXH was the same when he first got his iphone. he couldnt put it down and was always looking at facebook etc on it, setting up emails, checking it every 5 mins, downloading music onto it. We couldnt get through a meal without him checking it.

Sadly later on when he was obsessed with it again, WAS down to OW, but that was 4 months later....

Horopu · 21/10/2012 21:20

Inspired by this thread I have googled funny cat picture: fair play to your DP, there are some hilarious pictures out there.

MaryWants2getMarried · 21/10/2012 21:47

Trying my best not to get paranoid. If its going to happen, it's going to happen.

I'm with Horopu. Once you start with the funny cats there's no turning back.

Umm yes shall we go there with I phones glued to your DH hand, its not a good thing and I would accidently break it by mashing it on the floor and losing the insurance details or losing it down the toilet, they are hideous devils work.

DreamStory · 21/10/2012 21:52

Hilarious cat pictures = a whole world of entertainment I never knew existed.

At least your dh has a sense of humour, op.

angelpinkcar · 21/10/2012 21:53

sorry its not street talk I meant smashing it. have had a few vino calypsos this evenign waiting for TOWIE.

itsthequietones · 21/10/2012 21:54

I caught my dp on facebook the other day looking at funny cat pictures :)

angelpinkcar · 21/10/2012 21:55

Really?????

Pourquoimoi · 21/10/2012 22:01

Oops, I wonder if DH could say the same about me? Grin

I love my phone, but have never ever strayed or been tempted. Don't assume the worst unless he suddenly becomes secretive about it.

RobynRidingHood · 21/10/2012 22:10

Yes, men glued to phones is so suspicious, especially when their partners are glued to MN .... oh the irony

Numberlock · 21/10/2012 22:17

The OP did say she didn't do go on her phone in the presence of other people though.

ChasedByBees · 21/10/2012 22:25

My phone is pretty much permanently attached to me. I Facebook, MN, read the guardian and occasionally look at funny cat pictures.

Not all phone addicts are looking at porn or having an affair! I feel bad as I'm always on my phone. Luckily DH has an iPhone too. Just tell him you need some phone free time, they can be quite engrossing.

GwendolineScaryLacey · 21/10/2012 22:30

My phone is attached to me too, I upgraded last week and Vodafone nearly had to get out a scalpel to separate me from my old one. It is in my hand or by my side constantly and I am the last person to have an affair or look at porn couldn't be arsed

I'm not saying it's an ideal way to be but it's not in the same league as being a cheating louse.

Opentooffers · 21/10/2012 23:28

Lets not panic the OP. My mum moaned the other day that my Dad has got a new phone. "That's xmas dinner buggered then", I said. Definitely not due to affairs, I just know what a phone bore he can be and what this means - endless dull trivia about it and annoying tunes throughout dinner. Till SIL confiscates it, she's got balls lol.
