If this isn't an STD, what is it?? (possibly tmi!)

Been with boyfriend two months. He's had a vasectomy and so stupidly I agreed to unprotected sex (he'd been married 17 years, divorced for two, nobody since the ex wife - I trusted him).

All fine since.

Except - recently I have had an increase in discharge. My periods went all funny (almost seemed like watery blood, hard to explain) and more recently - I really smell down there which was never a problem before. It stinks, like a semen/fishy smell - so much so I'm sure I can smell it through my jeans.

And now - pain during sex. I feel so sore down there during sex, it feels irritating iyswim? It is a bit red from sex last night but we did have sex a few times so maybe normal???

Anyway I'm starting to worry. What do you reckon??

BV?

Not sexually transmitted.

scentednappyhag · 15/09/2012 17:16

Get checked, it's clearly not normal for you so while it might not be an std, it still needs attention. Hope you feel better soon OP.

Xales · 15/09/2012 17:18

Why don't you think it is an STI? 2 months seems like a good time for one to show up (not that I know how long they take).

Best thing is to get yourself checked.

you could be allergic to his semen if nothing else is wrong.

Sounds like bacterial vaginosis - not an sti but an imbalance of your ph levels that allows bacteria to grow. Very common with a new partner - you can get antibiotics from your doctor or rePhresh from Boots that is meant to work too

Agree that it sounds like bacterial vaginosis.

SuperB0F · 15/09/2012 17:50

Yup, fishy spunk smell is usually BV.

izzyizin · 15/09/2012 19:53

Does he have any symptoms such as the ones you've described? In particular does his semen smell 'off' and does he have any discharge from his penis?

SuperB0F · 15/09/2012 20:00

The point is, we can't diagnose you over the internet. But don't be scared to go to the GP- it is not necessarily an STD, and your symptoms sound like something pretty commonplace and not sexually contracted anyway. Nine chances out of ten, it will just require a swab and a course of antibiotics. But do make that appointment.

Get yourself to a Sexual Health Clinic. Probably a better option than the GP, they have seen it all and more.
Walk in, no hassle over anything.
