CSA- anyone know how long things take?

I phoned the CSA in Plymouth to start a new case with my DS who's now 10. I did have a case when he was born but I chose to drop it when he was three as they couldn't find him.
When I spoke to the lady she immediately was able to tell me exP was on benefits so I would get £5. I only want a case so Ex is forced to do a DNA test (as he wouldn't do the one I paid for when DS was born). I have no contact so have no idea where he is.
Does anyone know how long things take as they seem to have caught up with him? I know it will depend on his responses to a large part but are there any guidelines or whatever as to how long they will give him etc.

not sure, I have been onto them for the last six years and have yet to receive a penny.

My case has been 6 years too.

I got a phonecall 2 weeks ago, completely out of the blue from the CSA enforcement telling me that they had found him and were going to take him to court, and that as he didnt provide financial details, that they had decided on £40 per week unless he could prove differently.

They wrote to him, and i got a letter yesterday from the CSA saying that he would be paying the £40 per week plus arrears from next week.

I'll believe it when i see it.

Although i dont know what they are like if you chase them up as i have never bothered since i first made the claim.

Also, i dont know anything about DNA, but they will take the £5 out of his benefits before he gets it and it will come directly to you.

They will only go for a DNA test if he says the child is not his.

As he is receiving benefits you should start to receive payments fairly quickly unless he disputes paternity. If he comes off benefits, becomes self employed and doesn't co-operate it can take forever.

I got told it takes 12 weeks from when i contacted them. And it did infact take 12 weeks until i started receiving any money
