hey im looking for some advice, me and my partner of 11 years have just split up, and i have no idea how im going to cope financially, we lived on his disability money (i was his carer but i never claimed any money for it) child tax, child benefit and housing benefit. we have two small dcs.

i will still get child tax/benefit and have put a new claim in for housing and for income support. does anyone know how much a lone parent will receive for income support, and if there are any other benefits i can receive?

im hoping not to be on benefits for long, just to keep me going till i get a job.
any helpful advice would be appreciated.

It's just over £70 a week, paid fortnightly

IS if you have a child under 5 - £71 p.w. paid fortnighly.

Consult Turn2Us for a full benefits checkup - www.turn2us.org.uk freephone 0808 802 2000. Gingerbread (lone parents organisation) may also be helpful.
