Thus is something i have been thinking about fir a while now.

Ok - so I'm going to word it this way round ....

Let's say, for instance, I have a mobile phone (blackberry) and I password lock the phone so only I can access it ........

No one knows my password .....

Can anyone actually access my texts?

Would it be possible to buy/get/borrow another blackberry and insert the sim into that to read texts?

I'm asking just out of mild curiosity, naturally ;-)

No. Even with another sim in the keypad will still need the password - i know this as i've just given my son my old blackberry with a new sim.

Make sure you delete the texts properly though as you can still recover them by searching. can't remember how now though....

If it is a work phone the password is often insisted upon because of the IT security policy of the employer. Doesn't always have to be suspicious.

My works blackberry is password locked, and the only thing I can do is answer phone calls without having to unlock the phone. Apart from emergency calls out of course.

Don't know about putting the sim in another phone although I would assume this would be impossible otherwise it would totally defeat any security.

Sorry, I don't mean putting the sim in another phone is impossible! I mean being able to access any info would be impossible.

I know in old phones about 10 messages used to save on sim not sure about modern phones though
