Giving out your mobile number when dating online

Do you think it is reasonably safe to give someone your mobile number on a dating site if you plan to meet? Can they find out where you live from your number? I just have a pay as you go phone.

If he is a hacker, he might.

But then he might follow you home after the date too.

Nothing is 100% safe.

Oh that don't fill me with much confidence lol You just don't know who your possibly going to meet do you.

Add on Facebook first, check out pics against his dating profile pics then go for it. Worked for me

Realistically, we give our phone to lots of people, although usually in services.
And you may get a stalker from anywhere.

I wouldn't worry that much.

Ask for his number, call him and withhold your number the first few times.

If I was internet dating again I would definately have a PAYG that I would use initially but yes I have given out my mobile number in the past

PreDP (who I met online) I kept a 'b' phone ! Payngo number to use as required, only those that merited it got the 'a' phone number

Get a dating phone, don't give out your usual number until your certain they're kosher.

I've given my number to loads of internet dates. Most i've met, some I haven't. Never had a problem at all. Not to say that some people don't just I haven't.

I've never had a problem. I used to store them as 'POF+name+place they lived' for ease so they were all in the same place on my phone

It is useful to check em out on fb first too, but also just being sensible and meeting in public etc. As Lueji said, we could all pick up stalkers from anywhere.
