Police called at our flat this morning

Name change says it all.

DH and I had a small argument last night but the window was open and one of our neighbours called the police. :(

I am just so embarrassed. It wasn't even a very big argument but now I'm worried that our neighbours and the police think we're bad parents.

DD was asleep in our bedroom during the row but was pretty unsettled last night for the first time in ages as well. She's generally sleeping through now but she woke a few times last night for no reason that I could tell. Seemed like it was a bad dream or something.

I know that DH is under a lot of stress at the mo but I have asked him to keep his voice down when we do have a row. We do not argue in front of DD though so we settle things when she's asleep.

Has anyone else had something like this happen to them? I'm just worried that our neighbours are now watching us or something!

It's a well known fact that incidents of DV rise MASSIVELY during major sporting events. Think DOUBLING in some areas/cities and you'd be close to getting the picture.

DV is something that is being taken very seriously at the moment, both with the Olympics going on AND the Troubled Families Initiative.

I realise this is NOT the situation you are in atm, but tbh, I am happy that (a) your neighbour reported it out of concern for you and (b) that the Police came to check on the situation.

You have neighbours that care, and you have a police force that does it's job. Great to know!

I hope you and your OH manage to find a way to communicate more rationally and calmly in the future. (((hug)))

I think there reported it because of the noise. Rather than potential 'harm' to anyone.
Tbh I would be pissed off if my neighbours were shouting at that time of night.
