I'm a regular but name changed for this.

Last night for want of a better phrase, he couldn't get it up.
We were both in the mood, it wouldn't happen.

He did say he was hungry and was shaking abit after. Low blood sugar?
He is 47, never ever had a problem before, we normally have a very good sex life. Age?

I think he is a bit more bothered about it than he let on. He keeps saying we can 'try again tonight' in a Wink sort of way.
I don't want him to feel pressured. It almost sounds to me like he wants to prove himself...but what if it happens again??

Last night it was ok. We had a giggle together and he has been making jokes all day, but twice, to me sound like maybe there is more of a issue!

Gah! I hope this makes sense, I'm finding it hard to explain.

If it keeps happening, I would ask him to go and get a check up... Can be a sign of other things. alternatively, it might just have been a one off but now he's thinking about it... Can make it difficult... Does he feel well in himself?

Birds · 03/08/2012 19:56

Yes he is fine otherwise.

He normally has very good control over himself so I do think it has unnerved him abit.

How long before you would go for a check up?

That will be a battle in itself!

If it will be a battle... I'd mention it next time, if it happens again. So difficult with these things. Perhaps see if you or he can monitor if he's waking up with erections etc... When they happen less frequently, that can mean other issues. Lack of erection when having sex could be performance related if he's unnerved.

TeamGBIWI · 03/08/2012 20:03

It happens. Forget about it. The more you talk about it, the more pressure you will put on him to perform next time.

Birds · 03/08/2012 20:12

We aren't actually talking about it.
He is one bringing it up. I thought forget it move on iyswim .

Absolutely no pressure my end...i think he is putting it on himself Confused

He did say he woke up with a hard on the other morning so that's a good sign Grin

Blimey.
Was expecting an orgy with mechanics.
A one off, I would not worry.
Does he smoke?
Anti-ds?
High cholesterol?

Birds · 03/08/2012 20:21
Grin

Yes

Quite possibly considering some of the shit he eats

I just need to wait and see what happens don't i??

yep.
hope he wont make a habit out of it.
Smoking's bad for mechanics though.

TheBirderer · 03/08/2012 20:31

Nerves and anxiety can cause men to lose their erections, so if it does happen again it may be down to him being preoccupied about it happening and fearful of a repeat, rather than there being a medical cause. It can be a vicious cycle where fear of not being able to get it up stops it happening. Although it is good to keep an open mind of other causes just in case.

Lucyellensmum99 · 03/08/2012 20:36

Diabetes can cause erection difficulties (if i remember rightly) but you say he was hungry and shaking? So like you say, it really could have been low blood sugar, it could. If i were you id tell him this, tell him you have read that this is the most likely cause and not to think anymore about it, because if he does think about it, its going to be a mind over matter thing.

Malificence · 03/08/2012 20:40

A healthy man wakes with an erection every morning, and gets one while falling asleep. Wink

3 - 5 reflex erections during the night is normal for a healthy man.

Pomegranate extract or pure juice is good for getting good blood supply to the genitals, as is gingko and ginseng.

coffeeinbed · 03/08/2012 20:45

A quickie next time, so he won't have time to think much.
If men ever think during..

Lucyellensmum99 · 03/08/2012 20:46

Malificence · 03/08/2012 20:51

DH's erections are my early morning alarm call. Grin

skyebluesapphire · 03/08/2012 21:03

High blood pressure can cause this too
