online dating, can i date two?

I recently went on a date with a guy I met on an online dating site. We had one date, it was nice, we got on well etc. We met up briefly the next day too. He is in the forces, so a few days later he got posted to the olympics until the end of September. We talk on the phone and text etc, although that is starting to fade a little now, because its hard to maintain long distance when you have pretty much only met once!

I am still on the site, and another guy and I have been chatting, and now he has asked me out.

I don't know if it is mean to the first guy to go on a date with the second? We have obviously not discussed being exclusive as we have only been on one and a half dates. Whats the etiquette here? Do I have to tell both guys about the other one? Or am I allowed to go on a few dates and then pursue one man? The only RL person I asked said anyone on online dating is talking to more than one person, so its ok.

You're on a dating site, it's to be expected. Unless you have had the 'lets remove our profiles' chat then you're free to date whoever and however many you want to. If you want to make it clear that you're going to be dating other men then by all means do, but you're under no obligation to.

you haven't discussed exclussivity (is that even a word because I can't spell it if it is) so you are free to date others, you are doing nothing wrong

Its tricky because one of the guys is totally sweet and normal looking, and the other is just my type, a little rough and sexy.

I dont know which I would go for, so I feel like I need to meet both to know!

Even though he's on op Olympic. They'll be lots of singlies there, lots of people around him, lots of down time. Yes he'll be busy....but I'd be pretty sure he hasn't closed himself off just yet. So go on the date!
