did anyone else receive an email with this attachment from mumsnet staff? I couldn't open it and wonder what it is. I've asked the mumsnet team to let me know but there's been no reply so far.

Whoa! I am very careful aboout opening attachmants but if that one is a virus it would get me straight away as it would hit a sensitive spot and I would click that mouse before my brain got in gear!
Thankfully I have not seen it...

Sounds like the Badtrans virus, as that has the subject name you mention (and other, even less charming, ones) Maybe Tech can help you out?

Hi Louisa,

This was probably from Rachel's computer. It had the badtrans virus last week. We sent emails to anyone we could find that we thought it might have sent one to. This is tricky though, as it doesn't really leave any traces of what it's been up to.

Unfortunately, your reply message was addressed to [email protected] instead of [email protected] as the virus alters the email address slightly - presumably just to avoid you replying to warn the person they have a virus. So Rachel didn't get the reply. It went into a general "badly-addressed" pot of messages. I can see it there now. I'll send you a note by mail.

Regards, Steven (tech)
