No!!! Full of people who have plenty of time away from home....or funny shifts. Many are married.....

Many women go on their to bag a bloke in uniform, with a good salary and the kudos that comes with it....there is plenty of men willing to string them along.

From what I hear anyhow Shock

BedGirl · 25/07/2012 21:03

I found out my ex had used it in the past just before we broke up (it wasn't the reason but it didn't help matters any)

He said that it is basically just like any other dating site with the majority being non uniformed people. I think people in uniform get more stuff for free.

It all seems very odd although I do like looking at firemen

ILoveToblerone · 25/07/2012 21:11

You are better to go for a paying website..... from experience, lol. (I was a singleton for a while) I found in the past that the free websites were not the place to find the 'nice' guys. Some were totally upfront at already being married, some were just weird, depending what you are looking for but many were not in it for the long term. I would go with match.com. I met quite a few nice guys there :) Just my view!

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/07/2012 21:16

hey dont get me wrong - im not on the market! married 21 years! mi just wondered why uniforms?

OP posts:
lisaro · 25/07/2012 21:20

A colleague of mine went on there (lovely bloke) and got the impression there were a lot of females trying to either find a secure meal ticket or just wanted to put it about (sorry OP not saying all are like that, just his impression).

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/07/2012 21:22

im not going on there - im married! and im the one in uniform! DH would die laughing if he thought i was a meal ticket for anyone!

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 25/07/2012 21:24

I don't wear a uniform, and if I were dating I would like to get together with someone purely for their £££ (no one would every match up to DH's personality, and he would have, dropped dead if I were dating).

I'm thinking people in uniform aren't likely to be hedgefund managers.

lisaro · 25/07/2012 21:30

Absolutely not, but to some people 30k in a secure environment IS a much better deal than nothing. I am talking about someone who wants robe 'kept'. And they are reasonably upfront too, apparently. And yes, it gave us a giggle.

Houseofplain · 25/07/2012 21:36

Lisaro is right....there are TONNES of women who see 30k, uniform, steady job, uniform, kudos. As a huge meal ticket.

Also don't forget that many skilled or officer ranks will be earning higher than that. Plus say af, nice cheap house, travel.

There are loads on there basically looking for a kept life....or the ones that just shag about for the kudos of fucking men in uniform, sad but true.

The genuine guys I know hate ud for this reason. Plenty of married on there though willing to take advantage...

OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 21:39

Vicar, all I can say to you is..... level 2 PSU uniform. Possibly the most enticing bit of police wear out there Grin

I have always had a bit of a crush on a guy that used to work on PSU full time. He worked at the same station as me for a while, is a terrible flirt and his mere presence in the office used to make me go pink from the feet up.

OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 21:41

Btw, did you manage to distance yourself from the young female that you posted about recently ? I remember how upsetting you were finding it x

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/07/2012 21:42

psu uniform! nooooooooo!!

OP posts:
OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 21:44

And finally, I've been in since 2004, worked in uniform myself for 4 years, married to an officer. He's CID now yet the butterflies when I see him in his uniform are still very much there - and are absent the rest of the time haha ! I think there's something sooo sexy about a good looking, fit man in uniform. Especially a police one !

OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 21:45

I don't know what it is about PSU uniform but it is actually making me blush !

Although when DH did his level 1(or is it 3, the highest level where you do fire stuff and get the massive baton ?) the kit was strangely unenticing. He looked more like a welder Grin

ThatVikRinA22 · 25/07/2012 21:46

what about a good looking fit woman! eh? eh????

doesnt quite have the same ring does it! Grin the uniform does sod all for me i have to say! and its the most unflattering piece of kit ever!

OP posts:
ThatVikRinA22 · 25/07/2012 21:47

thats level 3! always reminds me of a welder too! Grin

OP posts:
OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 21:49

Our PSU uniforms must be quite good down here then - the trousers are very flattering to the male buttock Blush

I have to say that looking at policemen in uniform all day is a very great perk of the job (or was until I moved to a station where the only men in uniform are A19 or 19 stone)

Alameda · 25/07/2012 21:50

People who get a discount through work? Someone set up a profile for me on there and I wasn't impressed. The men all look like domestic violence enthusiasts.

OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 21:53

Vicar, I can't think of one female officer I know that doesn't look like a sack of spuds in their uniform. Especially since my force banned skirts and now al you get is a pair of "female" trousers designed for Kate-Mossesque figures. It's no wonder most go onto plain clothes jobs.

Babylon1 · 25/07/2012 21:54

Vicar one of the local clubs in town used to put on regular "999 nights" especially for emergency service workers, or those wanting to pull/get off with/shag meet someone who wears a uniform for work Confused

Now I used to think I had a thing for firemen, but I don't think I've met/seen a RL hunky one yet Hmm !!

Babylon1 · 25/07/2012 21:59

And actually does asda checkout uniform count too?? Or stinky vet nurse like mine ??

ShowOfHands · 25/07/2012 22:00

DH was in full PSU kit* for the 9 days of the London riots. On a van. Working 22 hour shifts. In a heatwave. With several other men. His kit walked home on its own.

*only one set of flame retardant longjohns each

Not so sexy after all... Grin

OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 22:02

Showofhands - boak

OhDearNigel · 25/07/2012 22:06

Actually, I think the "uniform" thing can really only be considered to be forces or emergency services. Because part and parcel of the attraction of a "man in uniform" is that they are generally quite confident, assertive, "macho" men and (certainly in the fire service and forces) physically fit.

IMO "uniformdating" means police, nurses, firemen, soldiers, pilots etc. Not McDonalds or supermarket workers

ShowOfHands · 25/07/2012 22:06

They put them up in university halls too. The first night several woke up covered in flea bites. They were moved. Nope, not sexy at all I'm afraid.

I preferred it when our service had the white shirts as part of standard uniform but they moved over to the black SWAT stylee ones a few years ago. DH is plain clothes now and his unit are all quite eccentric. It's all interesting brogues and braces.
