I'm really embarrassed

I've been internet dating and decided to have a look at POF. I put the bare basics on but using my usual user name and put looking for no strings. Anyway, I've arranged a coffee date through my usual dating site and checked POF only to see that he's been checking me out on there where I've suggested I'm only into no strings. I feel really embarrassed, how do I explain this one? I feel like cancelling the date. I'm not looking for no strings (well not with him anyway).

Why would you put different things on different sites?

sarahseashell · 11/07/2012 22:53

erm - say you ticked the wrong box if he asks?

I shouldn't worry too much if you've not met him yet, he might smell or something Grin

nothing to be embarrassed about

sarahseashell · 11/07/2012 22:54

I couldn't be bothered doing a full profile because I was just checking it out. I'm hopeless at lying too. I need to take that profile off, I don't know why I used my usual name. How did he find me on there anyway!

Is your usual name your MN nickname?

Because you may have fallen at the first hurdle if so...

bucketbetty · 11/07/2012 23:20

No tethers. Do you think he's googled my username? Oh god I hate the bloody interweb! How's a person supposed to live a double life :)

He probably happened upon your profile when he was searching for women looking for men between age X and Y, and Z number of miles within his postcode, surely? Ie coincidence rather than stalking :)

susiemumof · 11/07/2012 23:26

I would imagine if your dating site name is "bucketbetty" you won't have to worry about many dates Wink

tethersend · 11/07/2012 23:27

Is there an echo in here? Grin

bucketbetty · 11/07/2012 23:33

Ha ha.... I've deleted the profile now. I really must be a bit more savvy when it comes to being a slut! Susie I'll let you know my nether regions bare no resemblance to my username. God, I should really change my username. I'm such a petite and pretty little being and most certainly don't have any bucketness going on (I'm a born again virgin ... it's been a long time). Grin

Grin

I'm sniggering here due to the fact that my sister put down she was looking for "activity partner" bless her, when I asked her what on earth she was doing she said she wanted someone to go on days out with etc.

She got rather a lot of messages Grin

bucketbetty · 12/07/2012 20:02

MissFaversham, that's hilarious. I don't know what's going on. I've two emails in the past 2 days from middle aged men asked me for 'intimate' encounters. One of them was very graphic, he sent me a photo and he looked my dad! OMG... why would these men think I would want to let them touch me... crazy folk out there. The other one is married and wants a sexual partner (he says his wife has COPD and they don't have a sex life). I asked him why he thought I would be interested he said because I was very honest. WTF
