I asked the csa to get the maintenance for me and glad i did now because although my ex has given me money the last 3 months this month he's decided he cant afford it this month because he has his car to services etc, the are going to do a deduction of earnings. They can take 40% of his wages back pay and also the normal 20% on top. Although doesnt help me this month as they yhave said it will probably be another 6 weeks till i get anything.

I've had a lot of trouble with maintenance lately mainly due to ex supposedly not earning any money so therefore doesn't have to pay any maintenance yet manages to still live the high life. And now the CSA have told him he owes money dating back to November last year but he just refuses to pay it. He's self employed so they can't retrieve it through an employer.

I've resigned myself to the fact that he will never want to contribute to our DC, he never has done and never will do. He's just a bastard.

If he has paid you for the last 3 months, why are the CSA charging him back pay?

loganberry12 · 09/07/2012 21:22

They haven't really sorted anything out with him and he hasn't paid me through full amount they've said he needs to pay just a quarter of it in fact

CSA should get money out of him relatively easily then. Good luck to you. Smile

They have told me 6 weeks till i get anything in the mean time i have to struggle and borrow money off relatives. he said he can't give me anything because he owes money to his mum and friend and has his car to tax and mot !!great don't worry about your kids eating when!!

My ex P has recently given me the same bullshit excuse that he can't pay because he needs to sort his tax, MOT for his car.

I have the same excuse every year. I have tried using the CSA (and as they know where he works, you will get money) but my ex caused my son so much misery and upset it wasn't worth the extra money.

Have you tried speaking to CAB about financial help in the meantime?
