Before I go batshit crazy about my MIL, have you got any nice, encouraging stories about MILs that have been difficult that you've managed to turn around? Otherwise, please cheer me up with some funny crazy MIL stories.

My exMIL is a lovely, kind and generous woman.

Too bad her son turned out to be a violent and abusive asshole (and her daughter is a controlling little madam; same personality those two).

We had a lot in common, exMIL and I. I will miss her.

My MIL is totally lovely but i want to keep her all to myself (luckily my DH's siblings aren't married). She's always on hand to help out despite losing my equally lovely FIL 4 years ago.

My DH's MIL on the other hand is completely useless and talks constantly but never listens!

You have my sympathies, OP. My MIL is not horrid, but she is utterly exasperating and totally lacking in self awareness.

And she buys me terrible, terrible "presents"

i hope you don't have to miss her hidingbeneath I felt the same when my exH walked out and my exMIL and I now have a wonderful relationship. Its actually great to discover that your relationship really wasn't just based on the fact you married her son. She obviously still loves him to bits and I'm never critical of him to her don't have to be LOL . It can still work so long as you are good at biting your tongue .
