Hello,
I have decided to leave my emotionally abusive shit of a partner. There are complications though. He is typical, shouty, lies, threatening, mardy etc. What annoys me the most is the pathetic muttering. anyway, ideally i would like to keep me and kids in house. however, it is not ours but his and mils. I have been told it is possible to get to stay. Has anyone managed this and how~? any tips? i think he'll have the possibility of turning nasty in any way possible and his mum is very similar. I am reluctant to go to a refuge because i will lose any claim to my home. What do you wish you'd done? Thanks xx

Are you married? Did he purchase the house before you moved in together or after? Are they his kids too? How long have you lived in the house?

I think your best bet is to visit a lawyer for a 30 minute free chat to find out what your best bet is. Or CAB.

Well done for wanting to get out. You can do it!

Hi sorry, we were due to get married on november 3rd this year, but i have called it off due to my mental health wobbling. (guess who caused that!). I was hoping this would be the last gesture, me giving him a chance to improve but the stuff has just carried on. the house was bought outright by his mum two years ago. she refused (clever lady) to put my name on the deeds, I knew at the time what that meant. We have a house which we couldn't sell in our previous town which is let out. Bluntly, her buying the house allowed us to move and me to move closer to my family. We are both the kids parents and I am open to him seeing them lots. Is it unreasonable to ask to live in the house with the kids?
