apologies for title, I am bereft of ideas as the sodding times 'kindly' edited my profile for me. Angry

Yes, my mum is lovely :) She always made it clear that she wouldn't do full time childcare, which is fine, she has a life of her own, I didn't expect her to, but she did look after them for a few hours a week when I worked part time for a while. She's always been there for me and supported me in many other ways. We do have a good relationship and I'm lucky to have her.

An employment skills course? I've never heard of that. All my advisor ever tells me about are the courses for interview skills, CV writing and confidence building, none of which I need, cos I've done them. When I asked about training courses she gave me the number for Connexions. That's how I ended up at Learn Direct. Your advisor/Jobcentre sounds much better than mine!! I'm going to be asking about employment skills when I go on Wednesday!

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 12:41

It's a set of three courses, retail, hospitality and care, which are run by my local college but you have to be referred through the job centre, or one of a few other organisations. It could be that the courses aren't run in your area. It basically gives you a level one qualifiaction in which area you choose. It may be worth checking your local college website to see what they do, I stumbled across this by accident. It came under the heading of 'Pathways to employment'

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 12:42

Forgot to say, of the one I did two days were about retail and one day employment skills eg what questions you'd be asked at an interview. They did a mock interview too.

TimeForMeAndDD · 24/05/2012 12:47

I will have a look into it. I've thought about care as there seems to be lots of jobs in that area, but the trouble is it's all shift work, including weekends. Plus, I would have a problem with 'bottoms' and 'poo'. Smile And retail, well, nearly all the shops are laying people off around here. With the climate the way it is and unemployment being at it's highest, I really don't understand why the Government are forcing single parents onto jobseekers. It's just making things worse, all those people after the few jobs there are.

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 12:57

99% of retail jobs around here are part time, which is why I'm now mainly looking for admin type stuff. I went on the course because I wanted to do something and I thought it would at least make it look like I was willing to do training/courses, if required. I finished it just before christmas and then when the college had an open day at the end of January I signed up for an IT course, a level one in using Microsoft Office. I've done that but am still attending to get a head start on the level two which I hope to do in September.

I can highly recommend the ECDL Chaotic, European Computer Driving Licence. I have completed it and enjoyed every minute of it. It covers Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and some other stuff.

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 13:17

They used to do that at my local library, in fact I did a few sessions there but stopped going because I was having problems getting there at that time due to other committments. They don't do it now though.

Next are late! I ticked the deliver by 1pm box and they're still not here. I really need to go out but need to wait for the delivery so I can try stuff on first and decide which dress, if any I'm wearing. I have to do this so I have some idea of what I'll need to pick up from town in the way of tights to go with said dress. I've just had to pay the water bill, this months because I forgot about it Blush so they sent me a nicely coloured reminder Grinso I really don't need to be buying things I don't need.

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 13:18

Oh, and to add insult to injury Next have just sent me an email about their lovely summer shoes that I just have to have Hmm

TimeForMeAndDD · 24/05/2012 13:30

Grin I've just had that email too! Email customer service and complain about your late delivery, lay it on thick, that you specified a time because you have to go out, and they will refund your delivery charge. In fact, tell them you are requesting a refund of your delivery charge as compensation for the inconvenience.

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/05/2012 13:46

Hi y'all. I am new to the thread and new to the world of dating.

I got a bloke off the net and net him last week. It went well, he's been round a couple of times since for music and snogs (yay haven't had a snog in over 4 years). So I've been all blushing and distracted until yesterday.

I met him for coffee after work and it was nice and all, but I don't know, just not as fluttery as before. Is this normal?

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 13:54

Dione welcome :)

It's been a while since I've had an actual date so I'll have to leave that for someone else.

watchoutforthatsnail · 24/05/2012 13:57

dione - i dont think anyone can say that, other than you.
I dont think there is a ' normal' set pattern of behaviour that follows dates, in steps.

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 14:03

I just checked the tracking thingy to see what it said to see they had delivered to an outbuilding at 13.01. I have no idea which outbuilding because I've checked mine just to be sure, although I knew they hadn't because my back door into the garden is open and they would have met the dog if they had AngryGrin

This is one of the reasons why I've always had stuff delivered to the store before. I suspect that the delivery driver has got lost and delivered to the wrong address. Taxi drivers get lost around here, I've had a few phone calls by delivery people in the past, though not recently, asking whereabouts I am.

Grrrrr.....

TimeForMeAndDD · 24/05/2012 14:06

Chaotic have they put it in the green bin? They should have pushed a card through your door telling you exactly where they had left it. You definitely demand a refund of delivery charge after this!!

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 14:22

I've just been typing out a large post and deleted it. My stuff has just turned up so god knows what the tracking update was about. Panic averted I have my stuff Grin

TimeForMeAndDD · 24/05/2012 14:28

Grin right, go and try it on and report back! We need to know what you will be wearing, so we can picture the scene and send you positive vibes!

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/05/2012 14:30

Chaotic, I echo Time's recommendation to complain and ask for compensation.

Time, I need steps and instructions. Why aren't there any? I got some with my bookshelves and I ordered them off the net!Confused

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/05/2012 14:31

X post Chaotic. Glad you have your stuff.

ChildofIsis · 24/05/2012 15:01

So just found out that the photo sender is not a widower as he'd said.
Very much married, has an unusual name and has got his fb page on public. Thank goodness I found out before tomorrow's date.
He apologised; by text; and said " I'm a shit, sorry it's what men do"

So that's him gone, his loss...or his wife's I suppose.

Still in conversation with the young man who ticks all my boxes so we'll have to wait and see.

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/05/2012 15:04

ChildofIsis, what a complete arse. That's not "what men do". That's what lying, cheating, manipulative scumbags do.

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 15:18

Totally agree with Dione re married men cheating.

My dress for tomorrow :)

ChaoticismyLife · 24/05/2012 15:18

Now I've been able to post since MNHQ got back from the pub I'll get going into town.

noluck · 24/05/2012 16:46

Chaotic that is a lovely dress. Missed the pub outing (for once)

noluck · 24/05/2012 16:47

and totally agree re cheating scumbags....
